About the Conference
Organised by the Centre for Child and Family Research at Loughborough University and supported by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and the British Academy, the ‘Care Matters: Transforming Lives – Improving Outcomes’ Conference is an essential three day event for researchers, academics, practitioners, policy makers and all those working in the child, youth and family sector.
The conference will address key themes identified in the ‘Care Matters: Time for Change’ White Paper which sets out the strategy in England for transforming lives and improving outcomes for children and young people in care, and forms the basis for the current Children and Young Persons Bill.
The conference incorporates the 8th International Looking After Children conference, one of the most important conferences in the child, youth and family sector, and will focus on effective policies and programmes to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people from an international perspective. While the focus is on children in public care, the themes cover issues of significance to all children in need.
